Why this costume
Demon Slayer is such a fun show! While I really enjoy it, none of the characters really grabbed me initially for cosplay purposes. Then, Vickie Bane surprised me with this beautiful Mitsuri wig, so I started cosplaying her! When the Swordsmith Village arc came out, I grew to really appreciate her character and her big sister energy with Nezuko.
How I Made It
As mentioned above, the wig is from Vickie Bane. The haori was made from kimono silk and is the example in Cosmic Coterie’s haori tutorial.
The fabric layers are made of two parts: a base romper and an overdress. The romper has a black spandex bloomer portion (self-drafted) and a button up blouse based on Seamwork’s Penny dress. The overdress also uses the Penny dress bodice as a starting point. I made a flared knife pleat skirt for the dress that closes with snaps and a hook and eye.
The socks are from SockDreams and are stitched to a pair of leggings made of power mesh to keep them from slipping.
The shoes are purchased, though I did add a strap for the ankle. The sword is also purchased.
