Why this costume
This project started as a stashbuster! I’ve acquired tons of pink satin over the years in an attempt to locate fabrics for Sailor Jupiter bows, so it just made sense to make this adorable pink princess! I opted for an original design, as I wanted something that would be cute and comfortable for long judging days.
How I made it
I used the Lamour dress bodice and Dorothy bolero from Charm patterns as the base of this outfit. The bodice features a structural layer of duck cloth with scrap German plastic boning I had on hand. I drafted a full circle skirt for this outfit and built inseam pockets into the dress. The bottom is finished with 1″ horsehair braid and more fuchsia cut on the bias to account the circular hem. To complete the fabric portion of the look, I made a belt out of my remaining fuchsia fabric and interfaced it. I also made a small envelope clutch from scraps and some lacy wrist cuffs to wear on top of my gloves.
For my accessories, I printed Peach’s gem using The Dangerous Ladies STL files and sanded and finished it. I commissioned the wig from Vickie Bane. The crown is from Amazon.
After a few wears, I decided to add some extra detail to the dress. I used templates from CosPayton to add the SSBU skirt emblems made from glitter heat transfer vinyl to the hem. I also created a SVG of the Super Star for the back of the bolero, also made out of glitter HTV.
